MetLife's Supplier Inclusion and Development team has a simple goal: to implement and cultivate a world-class diverse supplier development program that promotes the inclusion of qualified diverse suppliers in the strategic sourcing process. This award-winning program is a competitive advantage that truly incorporates changing demographics in the procurement process and our actions to assist our customers in meeting their own supplier diversity requirements.
MetLife stands behind our "Rule of One", the inclusion of at least one diverse supplier in every sourcing event, which is tied to sourcing associates' performance and annual incentive. That directive ensures that diverse suppliers have a solid, fair opportunity. As a result, supplier inclusion and development is embedded in the DNA of our procurement processes; it's the way we do business.
Our criteria are simple. A diverse supplier is defined as a business that is at least 51% owned, operated and financially controlled by one or more of the following:
Ethnic Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) certified by NMSDC
Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) certified by WBENC
Veteran and Service-Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (SDVBE) certified by NVBDC
Disability-Owned Business Enterprise (DOBE) certified by USBLN
Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender Business Enterprise (LGBT) certified by NGLCC
Additionally we work with small businesses as defined by the federal government to meet the needs of our government clients
How to Register with MetLife We are committed to providing opportunities to suppliers who are certified by one of the organizations listed above.
